Thistle City Barbican
The reception staff were welcoming, courteous and polite at both check-in and check-out times. The room and bathroom were both clean. In-room facilties included tea/coffee making, trouser press, TV & radio, hairdryer, a safe and internet connection were available if required. The response to my report of a problem with a leak in the bathroom was excellent - a maintenance team was there within minutes and the problem was sorted speedily by helpful and friendly staff.
Breakfast was of the self-serve buffet type with a good choice and my coffee was delivered promptly.
I dined in the restuarant only once and chose the carvery menu. The service was good but the food was mediocre at best. The roast beef lacked flavour, the vegetables were watery and tasteless and the gravy was pretty disgusting. There was nothing left by the time I was ready for dessert apart from some rather worn-out cheese. Overall, though, I had a pleasant stay and I would choose to stay at this hotel again.

recent stay in london
there was a link door to another room that was opened, we had a twin room when we requested a double, accomodation was very basic and not particularly clean, food was very basic. we have stayed in numerous london hotels and this was by far the worst.

Thistle City Barbican
We were in the building opposite to the main reception area. The room was small and the standard of furnishing poor. Breakfast was included and good.
