Not bad

I love the location of the Henry VIII. Within walking distance of Paddington station and less than a block away from Hyde Park. Lobby smells a bit too much like cigarette smoke for my liking. Carpet on stairs is VERY worn and signs say they hope to get air conditioning one day...I think I've been reading that same sign for the last 5 years! Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is better than your average continental breakfast. Rooms are small, but this is London so I don't expect much. Wish we had access to CNN just to get some more world news. Never had a problem getting access to one of the two computers.

A Bit Outdated

We found the staff friendly and helpfull, the accomodation clean but basic, the breakfast was very disappointing.
Would suggest the star rating requires a serious look at.
Having a pool does not warrant an extra star!

Rooms

Room was very small, carpets and curtains were dirty and in desperate need of replacing.
Breakfast was plenty, however hot food was cold, hot plates were obviously not working.
Would return, however would make sure I received a better room.

Train spotting

Although tiny it was a clean single room which, sadly, I shared with every train on the Central Line. I think I hoped for more than that from a 4 star hotel.
