The main venue for The BBC Proms is the Royal Albert Hall but other locations are also used. The Proms is an annual eight-week season of daily orchestral classical music concerts. In 2008, the BBC Proms start on Friday 18th July and end Saturday 13th September.

These twice-a-year fairs have been running since 1950 and are prestige events in the antique world’s calendar. The organisers have faced the fact that they cannot compete with larger venues in the display of ‘brown furniture’ or big items, and therefore this will be a festival of the finest small antiques. With hundreds of vintage, Edwardian, veteran, classic, prestige and rare vehicles on show, this is a show that shouldn’t be missed. The show includes practical demonstrations, trade opportunities and cars for sale.

London's biggest open air theatre in the summer. Famous for Sheakspeare performance - Midsummer Night's Dream, musicals and children's play. On sunday evenings they host a series of comedy and concerts.

The biggest of London’s mass skating events takes place every Sunday between 2 pm and 4 pm on the east side of the Serpentine in Hyde Park. This is a big skating event open to anyone who can stop at a downhill! It is a great way to see the city and get some exercise. Rollerstroll normally follows a circular route but every month there's a 'destination skate' which will take you to an unexpected and remote corner of the city.

The annual London International Horse Show at Olympia is one of the highlights of the equestrian year and attracts all the top names in the sport. The New Year’s Day Parade in London is the greatest annual street parade in Europe. This is a free spectacular for the whole family to welcome the New Year. The Times London Film Festival is presented annually by the British Film Institute. It is the largest public film event in Europe, screening 280 films from 60 countries. The festival takes place in cinemas around London, of which The National Film Theatre in Waterloo, and Odeon on Leicester Square, are the main ones. The Great River Race has firmly established itself after 18 years in the sporting calendar to such an extent that experienced crews now describe it as a classic event - the one they all want to win. This year's race is on 13th Septemer. Starting off at Richmond, the race will go down towards the east of the River Thames towards Greenwich where it will finish. The 203rd anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Admiral Lord Nelson will be commemorated in October 2008 by the Sea Cadet Corps.

The Trooping of the Colour’s parade is held on the occasion of the Queen’s official birthday and takes place in June each year. The parade is carried out by the Queen’s personal troops, over 1400 officers and men are on parade together with two hundred horses. The custom of the Trooping of the Colour dates back to the 17th century and the time of Charles II. The parade goes from Buckingham Palace along The Mall, to the Horseguards Parade and then back again.

The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, hosted in London, is the most famous grass court tennis tournament, taking place every year during a fortnight in June/July.
