Impressed by Howard
This was the first time that I had visited the Howard although until recently it had always been out of the company price range.
The Howard had a promotion on and the London Discount Hotel rate was even better including continental breakfast.
The entrance and foyer is exceptional with beautiful marble columns and tasteful decor. The 2 lounge and bar areas on the ground floor had comfortable seating and a relaxing atmosphere. The cocktails were reasonably priced and well made and the wine lists had a good selection of top tasting wines at various prices. They were not shy with the complimentary nuts and crisps either.
The restaurant had a very good mix of French dishes with oriental undertones. The 6 course fixed price meal was superb with amazing variations of gourmet dishes. The breakfast continental buffet had everything you could hope for - cheeses, hams, yoghurts, fruit, meuslis and cereals.
The bedromm I had was the standard (called Superior) with feather pillows, feather duvet, internet access, lovely bathroom and a proper coffee machine. The view across the Thames was spectacular, especially with the sunrise bathing everything in pink.
The service was efficient, warm and helpful and in such attractive surroundings what more could you want?
