Bayswater lies to the north of Hyde Park and near the west end of London. It has excellent transport links to all areas of London. Bayswater underground station is served by the District and Circle line and Queensway Station by the Central Line. Numerous buses run along the Bayswater Road offering easy access to the shopping areas of Oxford and Regent Street, Kensington High Street and Edgware Road.
Hyde Park is in close proximity as are Kensington Palace and the Albert Hall. Many of the Victorian townhouses have been converted into hotels however some features are kept in many of the buildings. You wont find many major tourist attractions in Bayswater but if youre looking for a good night out, this area offers some of the hippest restaurants in town.
One main attraction in the area is Whiteleys Shopping centre, which offers you a luxurious and elegant shopping ambience with its Edwardian character and atmosphere. The centre contains a wide range of shops offering gifts, beauty, food and fashion. On entering the centre, you are welcomed by a beautiful water fountain with two centaurs (mythical creature with the head and torso of a man joined to the body of a horse), as well as sweeping marble and iron stairways, a glass dome and marble flooring throughout the whole building.
Whiteleys has one of the most impressive Christmas trees also during the festive period. Nearby to Bayswater is the street Queensway which has many mainly Chinese and Mediterranean restaurants.
Queensway also has an ice skating complex suitable for all ages, containing a brand new ice rink, a bowling arena with 16 lanes and many hi-tech video games, a bar and much more.
