The name of a n earby village, London's Gatwick is the second largest airport in the UK behind London Heathrow and is located in West Sussex, some 50 miles from the centre of London. Gatwick handles over 31 million passengers a year and the majority charter airlines depart Gatwick to over 200 destinations. Most recognised scheduled carriers fly to and from Gatwick Airport too, making it convenient for those not wishing to travel to London Heathrow. Gatwick was also the first airport to have a direct railway connection taking 35 minutes to reah London's Victoria Station. the two airport terminals, north and south, offer an extensive range of facilitates such as VIP lounges, conference and business centres, car parks and a range of shops and restaurants throughout. There are a number of hotels directly on the airport such as the Hilton at the south terminal and the Meridien Hotel at the north terminal. Along with international transport, Gatwick also offers excellent road links to the surrounding areas and the south coast with the M25 and M23 motorways both nearby.
