Marble Arch appears on most postcards sent from London and is located at the north eastern corner of Hyde Park near to Speakers Corner. Marble Arch is, in effect, a circular traffic roundabout with a large monument based on the Arc de Triomphe in the middle. This monument was originally supposed to be the new entrance to Buckingham Palace however when constructed, it was found to be too small for the coaches of the time to pass through and so it was hastily relocated to it's present spot. Marble Arch is a gateway to the centre of London where the Bayswater Road, the Edgware Road, Oxford Street and Park Lane all meet. On the north corner of Marble Arch is the Cumberland Hotel, another famous London landmark.
