Notting Hill is located north of Hyde Park and two miles west of Oxford Street, near to Bayswater and High Street Kensington, Notting Hill was orginally famous for it's diverse cultures and ethic mixes however with the huge rise on real estate over the last 20 years, Notting Hill is now a fashionable and expensive place to live. It again hit the headlines in recent years due to the Hollywood blockbuster Notting Hill, starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, Every Saturday, Notting Hill stages the world's largest antiques market, with a diversity of items on sale from womens accessories and handbags, jewellery, musical boxes and porcelain to pottery teddy bears.
Notting Hill features a great many large Victorian townhouses. Each August bank holiday weekend, this is also the location for an annual carnival known as the Notting Hill Carnival, celebrating the Afro-Caribbean culture. On parade are elaborate costumed dancers and colourful floats and there are loads of stands to be found selling food from across the Caribbean.
