The most famous road in Britain, Oxford Street runs a distance of one mile from Marble Arch in the west to Tottenham Court Road in the east. In recent years, private vehicles have been barred from using Oxford Street, allowing the famous red double decker London buses and the black taxis to travel freely. The street houses a number of famous and chain shops such as Marks and Spencer, Dorothy Perkins and the renowned large department store Selfridges. There are numerous souvenir shops to be found all along Oxford Street as well as bargain clothes and sports shops.
