Paddington an area north of Hyde Park and west of the Edgware Road. The mainline railway station, Paddington Station is located here, with trains departing to westerly destinations such as Bristol, Bath and further afield to South Wales, Devon and Cornwall. From Paddington Station, you can also take the Heathrow Express which runs on a regular basis to and from the airport. Journey time is only 15 minutes. Last year, the station was completely refurbished and restored to it's former Victorian glory. It now boasts new platforms and a brand new shopping and eating area called 'The Lawn'. In the immediate vicinity of the station, there are endloess small bed and breakfast hotels as well as the luxurious Paddington Hilton located on the southern end of the station. St Marys Hospital, one of London's leading medical centres, is also to be found in Paddington. The area was also made famous by the famous Michael Bond character, loved by children worldwide and hailing from Peru, Paddington Bear.
