St James is one of the most expensive and exclusive areas in the whole of London, the area being associated with royalty and counting certain royal family members amongst it's residents. The Mall in St James is the ceremonial route taken by the royal family during special occasions such as state visits and this is also where you will find the London residence of the Queen of Great Britain at Buckingham Palace. St James is also well known for its gentlemen's clubs, which date back to the 18th century and where aristocratic men would meet, talk politics as well as drink and gamble.
