the location of this hotel was superb for our needs of visiting hyde park for a concert i loved the fact it was only a couple of minutes from both the tube station a fantastic choice of restuarants and other eateries and some great shops. the room was clean and bright and perfectly acceptable with a reasonable view all there was a slightly limited choice of things to have for the continental breakfast - there was plenty of food to be had overall a very good stay and i would stay at this hotel again without question. very very happy

My stay at Best Western Phoenix was very pleasant. My room facing the road was surprisingly quiet. Although a small single room it met my requirements at a reasonable price. Staff were pleasant and helpful with directions etc and the two stations close by gave me scope to get where ever I needed. Even the night porter was kind enough to make me a pot of tea and have a chat when I woke at 3am with body clock still on southern hemisphere time! Thank you all for a great stay in London.

An efficiently run hotel - friendly and helpful staff. Room and bathroom recently refurbished and masses of hot water for bath and shower. Room somewhat compact but for price and central London this is acceptable. Breakfast a bit of a problem - our order was forgotten I think due to language problems - our waitress did not speak very good English. Overall I can recommend this hotel highly.

The accomodation booked was for a single and a twin/double. The twin room was no bigger than the single room booked. If you opened the bathroom door (which opened outwards) it hit one of the twin beds.
I could also open the door to the room from the bed without leaving it and also because the room was so small the door did not open fully.
The bathroom was adequate but again very small, I am 5 foot 1 inch and 9 stone, I was hitting the toilet roll holder next to the toilet everytime I used it and I am not exactly huge!!!!
It was extremely hot but they did supply a fan since there was no air conditioning.
Reception was vey helpful and polite, along with the breakfasting staff.
It was never a double or twin room unless they rename the hotel \"Lilliput hotel\"!!!!

Best Western Phoenix Hotel had everything we asked for. Nice room and fine service. The wireless internet connection worked fine on our phones, but if you are loooking for a good connection for more advanced surfing i would go somewhere else. The breakfast was eatable - and not much more. The hotel is really close to the tube and wonderful Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens/Royal Albert Hall ect.
We will be staying there again!

Requestd a double room with shower cubicle,non-smoking, quiet room. We were were shown a room with a bath. Only room available was in the basement, which was a smoking room. Smallest bedroom & shower room I have ever been in. Mattress and base need burning ! Springs completely gone & smelly.Almost impossible to sit on toilet, had to walk backwards to sit. shower too small to bend your head to rinse off.

Rooms in London can be small, including the lobby. But these rooms are actually big enough for two suitcases! A fan was included with the room to create a wind which made sleeping on a \'warm\' nights easier. The pub on site was very good and the continental breakfasts included were very nice. The price for an English breakfast was extra. We would definitely stay there again.

Quality:

The hotel features a pleasant lobby and reception area, even though the East European staff could do with some hospitality training how to be more welcoming and courteous to guests. Unfortunately, I was given a tiny room, in fact the tiniest room I\'ve ever stayed in.
I was lucky that I was only staying one night and that the weather outside was simply gorgeous because it wasn\'t the kind of room where one would want to spend even half an hour. On the positive side, the room and the en-suite bathroom were very clean and the bed was reasonable. I can\'t say that I wouldn\'t recommend this hotel but I personally certainly won\'t be coming back -I\'ve stayed in larger rooms in Bayswater area for less.

I booked accomodaion for 2 nights, at arrival at the hotel there was no room for the first night so BWS rented for us a room next door apartments, comparing to the hotel it was much much better, bigger room, brighter, flat tv, balcon, fridge, microwave oven.
For that price its better to go for apartments or just room.
Breakfast-disgusting, only cereals and tosts are good, rest is like a gum from can.

They first gave me room 415 which was extremely tiny with no room to even stand. After requesting another bigger room, they said they will try the next night. So I had to spend the first night in a shoebox. They did move me to a slightly bigger room next day but it was just marginally better. Also, there is no A/C in the rooms or safety deposit boxes. You can get a safety deposit box down at the reception which is pretty small, just enough for passports and tickets. Staff was not friendly at all, no thank you\'s, no smiles, no greetings etc. Only good things were free continental breakfast, free internet and convenient location next to tube stop. If you are there for a night or two, its ok, but anything more than that, I would recommend you look elsewhere. Its just one stop away from Paddington, so getting to/from Heathrow is quite easy and cheap.

The phoenix hotel is situated in a nice and quiet area with good access to the underground, shops and some bars and restaurants. this is maybe the main advantage, as otherwise it is nothing special. still, rooms are clean, the staff not unfriendly and a continental breakfast is included. should it be full, there are plenty of other hotels just next door which might be worth checking out.

Although we liked the hotel and thought it was in a good location for visiting London the room we had was far too small to be a double. It would not have been suitable if we were staying for more than one night.
Cleanliness was good throughout. One point we did mention on the survey in the room was that we were surpised to see breakfast tables in front of both fire doors. With the hotel full this would have been very dangerous should the worst happen and a fire break out. This should be looked at seriously.

A friend and I book a stay over night in London as we needed to attend an early morning seminar. We booked at the last minute because of the weather forecast predicting snow. There are no complaints at all. The hotel was very clean which is always my priority. The reception staff, whilst not being especially friendly were polite and efficient. The rooms - as mentioned in other reviews - are indeed very small but to be honest for the price paid compared to most other hotels in London I think something has to be \'sacrificed\' and the size of the rooms are perfectly adeqate for a short stay. The breakfast again was ok, much as expected - we chose the buffet option rather than paying extra for the full cooked breakfast. We asked for a quiet room which we were given. The hotel lobby is lovely with a small bar and little nooks and crannies for a quiet evening drink. All in all, a pleasant and comfortable stay and good value for money.

Very good hotel - such great service, facility for the price. Room was clean and quiet, staff very friendly. Location convenient, close to tube station, restaurants and shopping centre. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to London from USA.
