This musical by Time Rice and Sir Elton John, which premiered in London in October 1999, won 6 Tony awards on Broadway. Lion King won the Theatrical event of the year Award by the Evening Standard and was nominated for 8 Olivier awards.
By the birth of the lion prince Simba his mean uncle Scar becomes only second in line for the throne. Scar plans to murder both, Simba and his father King Mufasa and become King himself. Simba can escape the murder attempt but blames himself for his father's death and flees the country...
