We were due to stay at the Alexandria hotel for three days but could only stand one night in this hotel I'm Paddington. The room was very small and cramped, the en suite impossibly small but worst of all we did not get a wink of sleep as our room was on a main rd near traffic lights so there was constant noise from cars also thee was a group of youngsters sat below our room having a very animated debate. In short we could not stay there for the three nights so we had to pay again to stay at a better hotel

No lift in a part of the hotel 02/02/2014

I was very disappointed when i checked in because they gave me a room in another side of the street and there was no lift.I had to climb around 90 stairs with the baggages to reach my room.I went to complain because it was not written on the website that there was no lift.I stayed there for 1 night and the day after they gave me another room which was far better.But apart from this,the service is excellent and the rooms are kept very clean.Thanks

Very good location 16/10/2013

The hotel is very close to the Paddington station and near the center of London. For that location it has a good price. The rooms are very small, and not very modern, but clean. It is better suited for short stays than for longer one, and it has no elevator. Breadfast was also nice, the personal was very freindly and helpful with suggestions. I would rather recommend it for a short stay in London than for a linger one. We enjoyed our stay very much and would anytime come back.

The hotel is located near by the underground, bus, Oxford street and so on. Nice and clean rooms. Good value for the money

First positive: NO CARPET :-) and that means more clean ! Instead a nice real wood parquet.Clean and new bathroom. New towels everyday folded in nice shapes on the bed(new materass). The room and bathroom are small but couldn't care less actually. Nice staff. VERY close to both metro and railway station. Will come again.

Avoid Room 220

We booked a double/twin room but were allocated a family room.we requested a change of room immediately at Reception and were told there were no other rooms. Contractually we should have asked for a refund there and then but you have to have a roof over your head so we stayed. Room 220 was in the basement had a double bed and three other single beds in it The "bathroom" door did not shut prpoerly it caught on the floor there was what looked like excrement on the back of it. The wash basin had no plug! It was just terrible. The room was noisy there was drilling and the breakfast area/ kitchen was right outside. I wonder on what basis we were allocated that room. We won't be coming back!

Decent Hotel

I was very glad i booked he Alexandra hotel in paddington london. Room was big enough it was clean. For a discount hotel it was good value for the money paid. The only thing we did not like was the very small bathroom. But we accepted that because all the others things were ok.

My Stay In London

The hotel was very close to Paddington. The double room was clean and fresh. The floorboards creaked as did those above me. One of the 2 nights was awakaned by the noise at 1.30pm from late arrivals. The continental breakfast was basic, but for the price we paid was acceptable. The staff were extremely pleasant and accomodating. The shower was very small next to the toilet in a very confined space - difficult for the larger guest.

Non Worthwhile

The room was not in the hotel. It was placed in another building at three floors without elevator. No phone contact exist with reception. No awake service. No bar or a small sitting place to talk for business. No Internet connection - NOTHING - JUST A BED AND A VERY VERY SMALL SHOWER + WC.

Alexandra Hotel - Sussex Gardens

The Alexandra Hotel provided what I was looking for ..namely a comfortable and clean bed at night. The location close to Paddington Train and Underground stations was invaluable for ease of travel. Front desk was helpful on check in but really didn't require any further contact after that. The only quibble is that the breakfast provided was low end. Other than that it was just fine after a long day of touring this amazing city.

Great location, but bring crampons!

Our second stay.This is a basic but clean and competent hotel in a superb location, just minutes from both Paddington station and Hyde Park. Breakfasts are good, at least by comparison with similar hotels we've used in London. Our only issue is that both stays have involved an arduous climb up a narrow staircaseto the upper stratosphere, lugging our suitcase. The first time, the lift was broken: the second, we were put in the annexe, which has no lift. Not recommended for the infirm of limb or short of breath.  But otherwise, a good base for a short-stay break in London

Good location, 1o pounds overpriced

Guy at reception doesn't give the best information, so good to clarify time of breakfast and check-out as other guests were caught out. Room reasonable, location excellent from Paddington. Bathrooms need some work - shower screen broken, nowhere to hang the towel, miniature basin. I'd probably stay there again due to the location, but room is priced probably 10 pounds too high..

The Alexandra Hotel - Paddington London

This hotel is very much what I expected for a budget hotel in London everything was reasonable but not perfect. All electrical equipment worked and the rooms were on the small side. Elderly people could find the stairs a problem, there is a lift but it only seems to access one side of the hotel. Only minor faults really, The toilet seat needs replacing in the room I was allocated and the dinning room curtains could do with a wash. Paddington Station is only 2 minutes walk. I would not have a problem using this hotel again.

OK....but not really romantic !

room basic = a bit like a 2-berth car ferry cabin. clean the hotel is in dire need of a few more signs to show you where each room is. the sign to the breakfast room door was "non -existant" krypton factor 7.2 perhaps. breakfast was basic - but at least it was butter. for staying the night.....i possibly would use again hope this helps making impossible choices for hotels in London C.
