With standing ovations every night, the phenomenal We Will Rock You continues to go from strength to strength at the Dominion Theatre. We Will Rock You is set in the future, on a place once called Earth. Globalisation is complete. Everyone watches the same movies, wears the same clothes, and thinks the same thoughts. A safe, happy Ga Ga world. The Company Computers generate the music and the kids download it. All musical instruments are banned. But resistance is growing. A hero is needed. Is the one who calls himself Galileo that man, and can he help them Break Free? Legendary band Queen, fronted by the dynamic Freddie Mercury before his death in 1991, have been making music together since the 70's and have now joined forces with writer Ben Elton to bring their unique sound to theatreland. This mega-musical, seen by over 5 million people, includes 32 of Queen's classic hits, including Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, and more. One dream, one vision. One smash hit - book today! Please note: strobe lighting is used in the performance. **Seats labeled CIRC RV are restricted view by a handrail. Customers must be 5'4 in order to see over the handrail clearly. Customers under 5'4 will have the handrail in their view.
Showing at Dominion Theatre This large venue serves as both a theatre and a cinema. Originally seating some 2,835 people on 3 levels, the capacity has been reduced to 2,007 with just the stalls and first circle now being used. Although the theatre initially presented stage musicals, within its first year it was showing 'talkies' interspersed with short seasons of opera and dance as well as variety seasons. During the 1950's and 60's the theatre has presented long runs of musical films including "South Pacific" and "The Sound of Music". The theatre has also been used as a concert venue, with Judy Garland, Maurice Chevalier, Sophie Tucker and Shirely Maclaine being just some of the names who have appeared here. More recently Dave Clark's musical "Time" starring Cliff Richard (in his West End stage debut) and Laurence Olivier, opened here in 1986. Other productions here have included 'famously' short-lived flop "Bernadette", the Broadway hit production "Grand Hotel" which also flopped. "Grease" opened here 15 July 1993 and remained until 19 October 1996 when it transferred to the Cambridge Theatre. Other musicals that have been staged here include Disney's "Beauty and the Beast", "Notre Dame du Paris" and Queen's "We Will Rock You".
